1 minute clip on Earthrace, a cross over of a Powerracer, Trimaran and a Submarine ... 100% ecological, 100% biopowered, 100% carbon-neutral & 300% passion. It is said to be the most powerful Low Carbon Economy event out there, truly A 21st Century event that came back from the Future!
I was one of the main fund raisers for the biofuel and presented earthrace on the same platform as Al GORE in Brussels-Capital of the Largest Emission Trading System, and Carbonexpo in Köln. Earthrace is therefore known by all biofuel-, most renewable energy- and "carbon"investors and project developers and featured on +100 news broadcasting stations.

  • IIRC french sailing trimaran recently beat this circumnavigation record by 12 days.

  • @SkyyCaptainn Wait a minute. I think we're talking about 2 different race-contests. Earthrace was in a competition where you have to cross the Panama Canal, the Suez-Canal and the Street of Gibraltar and go around the planet in that way. The race you're referring to is sailing to the south pole and go around that one and thus circumnavigate the planet. Isn't' it?

  • Shame full!

They sold this on-of-a-kind unique boat to a bunch of fucking tree-hugging whale protectionist amateurs. Who proceeded to treat her like shit, then sink her by putting her in harms way.

  • @xoio Earthrace, later rebaptized as the "Ady Gil" by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, was rammed and basically split in 2 by Japanese whale poachers illegally whaling in the S. Ocean Whale Sanctuary, way out of Japanese waters. The video's on the topic show the hunter to accelerate and turn to run the "Ady Gil" over nearly killing the crew. Things can be improved, but I don't agree they're still at the stage of amateurs.

  • @SvenAERTS Watch the collision video again, the view from up on the Japanese ship. Ady Gil clearly goes full throttle forward to get its nose under the Japanese ship. Look at the propwash behind the Ady Gil.

  • @viperfan7 sorry, i am not a native speaker. couldn t you write anything more intelligent here? something a bit closer to the topic?

  • @DonMegaphone Ones man sacred crap is another man delicacy. Whale population has reached a sustained level. They can be harvest for food and the stock can be controlled like other fish species, eventhough they are not fish, but the idea is the same. It's a crime now to hunt endangered specie for food. Whale are no longer endangered. If you can eat fish, pork, and beef, why not eat whale meat, or horse meat for that matter.

  • @memberphil I think grammar might be a big enough challenge for you.

  • posh mens bullshit!!! the challenge is just about costs! biofuel is from where rainforest had grown before! so fuck that! sailing is the only clean and serious chellange!

  • @SvenAERTS

IIRC both routes are roughly similar in length. French trimaran sailed more or less the Vendee Globe route which is ~24 000 nm. Earthrace traveled ~25 000 nm so it is pretty close. Sailing trimaran had much higher average speed.

If we go by rules that apply to sail driven record breakers that mean no stops, no outside assistance then breaking the record set by sail trimaran would be impossible with internal combustion powered boat. Only nuclear powered ships could do it faster.

  • @SvenAERTS that's still no reason to sell her to those irresponsible retards. a fine piece of equipment like that is not for somebody who can't maintain it. ironically enough it was destroyed because it supposedly ran out of fuel. should have sold it to somebody that would have used it for a personal pleasure vehicle to get around real fast or to a racer . just really irresponsible to sell to people who would trash it just like they do their other vehicles.

  • and smashed by some japs

  • @Antonio001z 30,000? Why stop there? Why not say "Eleventy-billion scientists want to sue [What damages are they seeking?] or debate [All at once, or one at a time?] the DREADED Al GORE WHO INVENTED GLOBAL WARMING!!!!" It has the same credibility as 30,000.

From the wiki on "Climategate": "Six committees investigated the allegations and published reports, finding no evidence of fraud or scientific misconduct." And then there's the fact that Gore had nothing to do with to begin with.

  • @2Phast4Rocket There are sources of meat for Japan other than some of the rarest creatures on the earth. What gives them the goddamn right? You can't get around that fact.T

They argue that it's some sacred "tradition", but societies shed traditions constantly and this is one that Japan needs to shed now. I'm a bit of a Japanophile. I've traveled there. I love the culture, the history, the people. I just don't understand their clinging to this thing everybody else in the world hates them for.
