Lenovo Thinkpad T400 Review. 2765 T2U. 2.53 Dual corm 7200 RPM HD, Switch able graphics, 9 cell battery.
While the Lenovo T400 offers speed and great expandability its on the heavy side at nearly 6lbs. The 14" wide screen is super sharp. Viewing angle is much less than most will expect. Boot time is 22 seconds. Good battery life & features.
Cons- Extremely cheap plastic construction. Severe 'flex' on keyboard and deck. Sloppy construction throughout. No rubberized finish!! 9 Cell is HEAVY. Monitor is not bright enough for outdoor use.
Conclusion- For $1,500 I expected the quality to live up to thinkpads of the past. If you are expecting this T400 to be the quality of the old IBM days take a pass on this one. It may be quick and have some expandability but many other competitors offer significantly better quality, same if not better specs for about the same money.
Lenovo sucks, almost as bad as HP. I work on computers and I have a basement full of machine HP bought back but didn't want the corpse sent back.
Lenovo isn't much better, my main machine went through two hard drives in two years. Pathetic, anyone build things to last anymore. God only knows how many of these POS machines are filling up landfills and killing fish.

I wanted to add that you can't compare the weight on that previous machine. I do agree that the plastic around the wrist rest isn't as good as it could be, and I agree the keyboard is junk. I replaced mine with an IBM.

Good video thanks for posting it!!!
It breaks my heart to see what they did to the T series.
I just ordered a X200. I hope I have a better experience. I will certainly compare the X200 to my old and solid X40.

Hi, thanks for the video! I'm a huge Thinkpad fan but you convinced me. Could you share some opinions on the X300? Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting this. It's as if Lenovo is penny wise and pound foolish. They won't impress longtime ThinkPad fans by skimping. It's hard to believe IBM allows the ThinkPad name to be tarnished by Lenovo.
