How to make your own fabric softener. You will need distilled white vinegar, about $3 per gallon. Fragrance Oil or Essential Oil to add scent. Thats it! At the end of the video I will tell you how to replace your dryer sheets with a reusable item. Produce less waste and save money on your laundry.
You can also use the vinegar solution as a laundry freshener when you leave the laundry in the washer too long and it gets that musty smell. Use it without soap and it will be like fresh cleaned.

  • I bought some essential oils. Will this work with essential oils just as well as your fragrance oil? I like vinegar and I'm using it with great results right now, but there is NO smell at all and I want my clothes to smell nice.

  • @Ineedmorelives

Should work but you do need to shake this before each use because oil and vinegar don't mix... like salad dressing! (unless you are using a chemical to combine them...)

  • Thanks for the recipe for Fabric Softener and the sheet (balls) tip. I was about to spend $30 for 3 XL Downy on sale,,,,Now i spray my balls with your mixture and pop them in the dryer. Saves Bucks.

What a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing!

  • I read below that you add scent to your homemade laundry soap. I'm assuming you use fragrance oil? Doesn't the homemade soap (or the vinegar, for that matter) neutralize the fragrance oil aroma?

And WHERE are you getting your fragrance oil for $2?! The only place I've seen it is at my local co-op and it's $8 - $40!

Lastly, I bought some tennis balls and use two per load. It works great! Better than dryer sheets, which make towels less absorbent.

  • Respond to this video... Glad the tennis balls work for you. They are also great for fluffing pillows and blankets.

  • Thanks.

  • @EdentiaFarms Thanks for the response. I am waiting for the oils to get here via shipping. I didn't think about oil and vinegar not mixing, but makes sense! Thanks.

  • @wheresmylife getting your fragrance oil for $2...A lot of 99 cent stores have them for 2 to 3 bucks or any where that sells incense they're usually near one another at the store...also you can use old perfume you don't wear any more. .
