In 1981 and 1982, you could get games downloaded to your Intellivision video game console directly over your TV cable - if you were in one of the limited areas that offered PlayCable.
Intellivision discontinued PlayCable in 1983 mainly because (a) it couldn't download the new, larger Intellivision games and (b) hackers discovered how to turn PlayCable modules into Intellivision development stations.

It was priced 12 USD monthly, the catch was "intellivision not included" of course. It bombed in the big video game crash of 1980's as well only 20+ games were available.

I wonder how the pricing structure on that worked. Was it a flat monthly fee or a monthly fee plus so much per game?
