The transpolar drift (purple arrows) is a dominant circulation feature in the Arctic Ocean that carries freshwater runoff (red arrows) from rivers in Russia across the North Pole and south towards Greenland. Under changing atmospheric conditions, emergent circulation patterns (blue arrows) drive freshwater runoff east towards Canada, resulting in freshening of Arctic water in the Canada Basin. Understanding this more complex pathway will help scientists make better predictions about the Arctic's response to climate change. The findings appear in the Jan. 5 issue of the journal Nature. • @mrteemumilto A minor note; most of the U.S. east coast is at best on the same latitude as Spain.

  • @mrteemumilto the gulf stream isnt doing much for england now that its been slowed down. the last 2 years has brought bitter cold conditions to england and northern europe.

hell IS freezing over. these are precursors of an iceage. no one is going to be talking about warming in 3 years ago because its going to spread. check out the weather in indai and turkey right now.

  • the oceans are filled with arrows.

  • Water from Russia? Isn't that vodka? ;)

  • so how come global warming be a myth ? o.O

  • looks like mechanics in air :-)

  • @TOWNSERS The east coast is in the north. Northern Europe is on the same latitudes, but the Mexican Gulf stream warms it up. Otherwise London and Hamburg would be like Alaska.

  • Note that water from Siberia is warm ;)

  • It that why the east coast is very cold ? Where the warm water is replaced by cold flowing water ... I think that changes weather patterns ... Florida freeze over? And the reason citrus prices are going up?
