when it comes to Guard Dogs i'll take a Doberman Pinscher if i want something that will fight I'll stick to my Nile Monitor put that thing up agianst any fighting dog

@rottweilerplaypen I have found both the males and the females to be very affectionate with their family but they have no time for any person or animal that isn't part of their life 24/7...but saying that I also find them to be very gentle around children they meet too,Yeah my house is pretty safe from any unwanted visitors that's for sure:) .Our male is a house dog and he will patrol our house at night it's very reassuring having the CAO's around :)

@iTHackingOfficall GSD are very good dogs. They wouldnt make good flock guardians where they would need to possiably confront cayote or wolves, they just dont have the size or strength. But they will guard your house very well, and they are highly trainable, but they make better patrol dogs and companion dogs than they do guard dogs. I perferr the dutch and eastern european shepherds to the common AKC GSD, their bill of health sets them apart, they act and look very much the same tho.

@MrTrailertheater Your absolutly right. The Kangal from turkey (not americanized anitolian shepherd), and the shepherd dogs of central and georgian areas (caucasian ovtcharka, central asian ovtcharka, gampr, ect...) are the top guardian dogs of this world. They will confront any intruder and have uncanny ability to tell friend from foe. No formal protection training needed, in the right hands they are the best at what they do, guard and protect thei keep.

@TheInsomniac247 Yes, they are amazing dogs. I find the females have a gentle side to them around and can make good indor pets under the right conditions. Owning 2 you dont need worrie about unwanted intruders, especally when they hit maturity.  Do you keep a male indoors?

These dogs are not guardian. They are genetical beasts. Check out Turkish Kangal if you need a guardian. youtube.com/watch?v=cBF9OuFz7N­w They are big strong but gentle to family and children. They have no fear. Not even scared to attack to wolves, bears, cheetah even lions. They are also used as sheppard dog in Africa to save cheetah population. Because Kangals protects sheeps even from big cats and villagers don't have to kill big cats because of sheep loss.

Post's like this are the reason people hate Pitbulls. It just gives people the wrong ideas about these cool dogs. You aren't helping the breeds at all.
