The film at the beginning is the opening of West Side Story directed by Robert Wise. How did they get away with that?

@plateshutoverlock It sure has that feel for sure, though it's not quite identical. but that is the first thing I thought of, and I'd bet anything the guy who made it saw the movie, whether it was really allowed or not in the Soviet Union (I really have no clue how many western movies made their way over there).

I quite enjoy the subtle use of propaganda the artist employs. As an American I can see what the USSR government would have wanted their people. Not that I am making the US government out to be any better. The US had its fair share as well.
At 4:27 we can see the targets of a deity of an Eastern religion, a hand employing the 'peace sign', a Soviet submarine, and a political leader (Uncle Sam?).
