  • You should really use a modern turntable and with amplifier and pre amplifier that would enhance the listening

    No offense

    Thanks god your record is in intop notch condition

    Who sais that Kid Ory ' s sunshine Orchestra was the first black band to recordJ, azz , in 1922 ?

  • @Bumblebee38

    acoustic 78's had a kind of grit in them to wear the steel needle down to fit the groove more closely; the needle was suppose to be replaced with each record;

    that being said, I do have a set up for digitalizing 78s. I just thought the old knock off Victrola more visually interesting for youtoob

    :)

  • dont you have more of this?

  • nothing so early. my collection is mostly mid 20's to mid 30's

    :)

  • wonderful!

  • I say James Reese Europe was not only the first black to record jazz, but history should be re-written. There are several recordings that date from 1913-14 pre-dating the ODJB by three years. Both were recorded by Victor. So I guess the one thing you can't debate is that Victor was the first company to record jazz.

  • I believe this is the oldest blues/jazz recording i've ever heard.

    Thanks for sharing man.

  • nothing more from WC Handy ? thank you =(

  • Deffinatly rather amaturish in comparison to the original dixieland jazz bands' version, I concure.

  • sounds simular, a little slower and i don;t hear the bass drum like the Victor Recording, i just posted the ODJB verison. great post :)
