There's the mikeaustingolfdotcom website that Thomas Dan runs...and also Peace River's Mike Austin: Secrets from the Game's Longest Hitter video. Check those out. Dan's stuff is very similar to Mike's instruction except for how to use the hands (although, after Austin's videos came out, Austin changed his viewpoint on how he thought the hands should work). As for me personally...I base my teaching on what the student wants to learn, so I guess it depends on the individual. ;-)

Yup, sure thing. Thanks for the info. I'm working on some new DVD concepts and will take those things in to consideration for them. Not sure when I'll have them done, though. :-p Stay tuned!

Jaacob - What is the big secret to Mike Austin's long and accurate swing.Did this also translate to his irons?I've been using the spin the meatball method with great success.I would like to add some of Austin's methods which I feel I have picked up some here at Utube.I believe Dan was actually being given a lesson in one.The problem is the audio is bad and it's hard to get everything being spoken.
Thanks
Boston George

Part of it I think was that he was physically able to swing fast, but there were also several distinctions in his swing that were different than many: using his legs to move his lower spine laterally to pivot around a fixed swing circle center, throwing the club head vs. creating lag, and counter-rotating on the way back (something he taught later on in life after he put out all his videos).

Visit my personal website...I've got a page dedicated to common questions I get regarding Mike. ;-)

Many thanks!

Thanks, happy to hear it helps.

No, nothing on YouTube at the moment. :-/ I talk about grip and setup on the inside of the Swing Man Golf site...but it's not really Austin specific.

jacob - Have you read the excerpts from Joe Dante's ,"The Four Magic Moves."The section on the wrists is somewhat like Shauger's.His premise is that the backswing is initiated by a wrist cock.He practically gives the entire package away for free.Interested in your comments, especially the downswing. He states there must be a lateral move before the hip turn or the entire swing is wasted?

Hmmm, yes, I think I have that book...but I believe it is still in storage from when my wife and I moved. I'll have to dig it up again. :-)
