I think it is great he did it. There are people out there who could be able to hack a biological cell and produce glowing bacteria. There are people out there who can perform incredible computations with their minds. There are people out there who can build you a house by themselves. There are people out there who have the know-how to power a house with renewable energy.
If someone works hard to achieve any of these, it doesn't mean it is less valuable cuz someone else can. Effort is important.
