This is one of those songs that just pierces the heart completely... Knowing that GOD loved us so much He gave His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, for us... And Jesus loves us, even to the point of death. There is no God like the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! Praise The Lord! =)

Also the fact that God hated Esau and yet loved Jacob while both were still in the womb does show one example of how God can hate someone. (unlike some, I do not think however God hates someone, or for that matter loves someone, without any reason behind it--there is a logic and a reason behind everything God does or does not do).

“The undiminished radiance, which is the result of abundant joy, is not built on anything passing, but on the love of God that nothing can change. And the experiences of life, whether they are everyday events of terrifying ones, are powerless to ‘separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord’” (Romans 8:39)

Again, I'm in polite disagreement that those who are condemned are basically on good terms with God. I don't believe it makes God happy at all to have to destroy one of his children, but He realizes for some it must be so.

I even think the day when Satan will be destroyed it will bring God sadness to have to do this (because even his soul was created by God). Still in his rebellion against God, he has hurt and defiled so many souls, wrecking God's natural order, and is sentenced to die for it.

In regards to God being all loving, you should read Romans 9, which opens the door to a tough doctrine to understand (predestination), but clearly shows in v.13 that he hated Esau yet loved Jacob. My understanding is that He's created people for different purposes, some noble and some not (v.21); that his power might be manifest. Like I said, it's a tough doctrine to grasp but is clearly talked about all thru the new testament.

Okay we agree. I personally am careful not to imply that salvation means no more of these sins. Sometimes God works miraculously and the sin is stopped immediately. Other times, it an improvement and sanctification process that lasts a lifetime. Yes there should be evidence of change, but I don't think thinks like addictions, etc. are cured overnight for many genuine Christians.

The way I see it, if a drunkard gives His life to Christ, it doesn't necessarily mean he can never drink again, but if his commitment is genuine his life will take a dramatic change for the better - in many cases being a process before drinking is completely stopped. And the same would go for other sins. If however ones life doesn't start taking a dramatic change for the better, I would question whether they've truly surrendered their life. Those sins are proof of walking in the flesh. Rom 8
