@kadijah1004 that is written in a total different contexual manner- because silk is permitted for women not men and music is haraam when taken in a negative context, to brainwash people or to turn away from faith! because there are many hadiths promoting the duf' instrument in the sahih' hadiths :) I hope you will look at it that way inshallah'

regardless of who's right, if neither of you produce proof, your "opinions" don't count. Everything in our deen comes from the Quran and the Prophet pbuh. It is interpreted by scholars, but they admit they may make errors. There is no hadith that says that guitars are banded from songs. The Prophet (pbuh) said “Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari). Take that as you will.
