Herbert Howells, Let God Arise, sung by the Choir of Chichester Cathedral, Alan Thurlow conducting; Mark Wadell, organ.
Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered, let them also that hate him flee before him. Like
as the smoke vanisheth, so shalt thou drive them away and like as wax melteth at the fire, so let
the ungodly perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad and rejoice before God
let them also be merry and joyful. He is a Father of the fatherless, and defendeth the cause of
the widows, even God in his holy habitation. He is the God that maketh men to be of one mind
in an house, and bringeth the prisoners out of captivity. (Psalm 68)

Wow, I am a huge Howells fan, and I have never heard this anthem. Thanks for posting!

@music4sherry i was in that choir then and it may interest you to know that we sung that on live radio the day after we went to Worcester and we all got food poisoning, you can not really blame us for that

Despite the quick fade out, it's still very nice. And lovely shots of Chichester as well.

Shame about the loss of sound at the end. Fantastic to see it in here though. A rarely sung piece, sadly, in my view. But needs singers with decent lungs. The boys seem a bit out of breath here.?
