What was done to the top of the battery cell? is the bent bent into that V shape and balanced on the top? and the bottoms are stripped and wrapped around below? and last is the magnet the large brown block it is sitting on or the rod part below the battery?

no you would have to flip the direction of the current for it to spin the other way
