Author William Least Heat-Moon on how the tallgrass prairie exists because of an ancient ocean that covered the region over 200 million years ago.
I asked Chapman Stick artist, Trevor Stewart to create a realization of Gautier de Coincy's 13th century melodic fragment, "Douce Dame." Once again, Trevor's artistry invokes the ancient with the present, perfectly. I intentionally asked that the soundtrack be composed and arranged before the film was edited because Trevor's music actually helps me create the images you see.
This extra is from footage shot during the filming of "Return to PrairyErth." The film tells the story of Heat-Moon's return to the tallgrass prairie nearly 20 years after his book was released. Heat-Moon sees that Chase County is now one of the most environmentally advanced regions in the country and we hear the story of how people came together to save the prairie.
Director and Cinematographer, John O'Hara takes you on a journey through one of the beautiful and little known places on earth, the tall grass prairie in Kansas.
