European Commission production: "The EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is a world first and a major weapon in Europe's fight against climate change. The innovative system has turned carbon dioxide emissions into a tradeable commodity. They can now be bought and sold like any other of the thousands of products traded on world markets today. The scheme works by placing a limit or a 'cap' on the amount of carbon dioxide participating installations - currently around 10,500 across the European Union - can emit every year. If an installation emits more than its allowance, it must either pay a very hefty fine or buy surplus allowances from companies that have managed to stay below their limit. The system ensures that overall CO2 emissions from the plants covered are cut in the most cost effective way. The video report shows: Factories and sources of CO2 emissions Renewable energies' systems ABN-Amro trading floor Pernis' Shell oil refinery (Europe's biggest oil refinery) DSM chemical plant Interviews with key figures including: Tomas Wyns, Climate Action Network Europe Jos Delbeke, Director for Climate Change & Air, DG Environment, European Commission Sara Ståhl, European Climate Exchange Gerhard Mulder, ABN-Amro Annemarie van der Rest, Shell Marc van Doorn, DSM Julia Williams-Jacobse, Dutch Environment Ministry Dr. Bert Metz, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change."

  • Organized Crime in Charge of EU Carbon Trade, Europol Says

  • where can you find the latest prices of carbon credits

  • Try this on for size, please watch all this and open up your eyes

    Info Wars Nightly News 2011 12 09 - December 9th 2011 Alex Jones

  • @0ct0ct09 haha wow you have no clue about what your saying

yes it will cost large corporations to pollute, however if the EU prices

carbon a 'realistic price' it will force corporations to

become more efficient and decrease emissions or wither and die. Only so

many permits will be released by the EU to force this to happen (too many permits

    will not decrease emissions)

Yes it will trickle down to individuals, this is unavoidable in any scheme

if you want to stop global warming

  • It's amazing how many of you are attacking this scheme without any understanding of how it works. An ETS is the most cost effective way of reducing emissions in the longer run. There is little peer-reviewed literature that does not recognise such a scheme as the most cost effective period

  • @MisterJohnQPublic: All you need to do is follow Lenin's advice and look to who benefits from denying climate change. If we can the science behind climate change aside and simply look to who benefits from denying climate change, the answer is largely big business and to a much lesser extent people who are afraid to lose their lifestyle as it is. It is simple psychology ("The missing hero trap"), people are much more inclined to avoid loss in the short term than to foster a gain in the long term.

  • The companies will no doubt pass the cost of Emissions Credit down to the everyday people. Few example : heating a house, driving a car or even smoking a cigar. It will comes in the form of EC taxes. This Emissions Credit will make the cost of living go up.

  • This is a scam. Frist the EU will impose emissions trading scheme on large corporations. Pay to pollute. So a company can pollute as much as they want...as long the Co. buys the emissions credit, so therefore it make it looks like the Co isn`t polluting because the Emissions Credit offset the acutal emissions. The companies can buy or trade emissions credit. Second, and eventually, it will trickle down to the drivers. Not only do you need to buy a car and gas (petrol). You will need to buy EC.

  • Yes, pay me to pollute....???? Cough cough..or just send it to China where i have also invested...Ahhem...meanwhile maybe build some wind stations which i have also invested in which the electricity is sold at a premium, where i also have invested... look i can now control the major companies of the world by tweaking this scheme and you and make a fortune all for the enviroment of course.. you should be thanking me!!!

  • can't wait for the 'united states of europe' there followed by 'the united states of earth'

This sort of crap should be put where it belongs, down the toilet. You don't have to be a 10th grader to figure out that 200 parts / 10,000,000 atmosphere content increased to 208 parts is going to change world climate. Sick and tired of hearing

'consensus' and not 'impirical data'. Ever heard E.D. used by Penny Wong, Greg Combet, Julia Gizzard, or Bob Brown ?? You never will either
