He is Canadian since 2004, he has is citizenship.
Many people comes to Canada, especialy in Montreal, for boxing. The infrastructures are very good, trainers are world class and Canada's quality of life is in the best in the world.

Yes he's Romanian but is more than happy to represent Canada.You guys have to show some respect for Canadians because he lives in Canada now.I don't really like when we make the big race difference.Go Bute+Romania+Canada!!!!

Those who never emigrated can't understand. He's noth Romanian and Canadian (in Quabecker, a big nuance haha!). Nothing to fear, he keeps all his roots, and integrates to this new country (very well indeed)

I am a Romanian Canadian. I came to Canada when I was a kid, and I don't understand some of the complete garbage that goes on in here. Why the hell can't both Romanians and Canadians be proud of him? I personally am proud of him both as a Romanian and as a Canadian. To all my Romanian countrymen: Nobody is saying Bute is Canadian. They just love him because he resides and trains in Quebec and he is a "people's champion". He loves Romania and Montreal as well.
