Over the final weekend in september, the Severn Valley Railway held their annual Autumn Steam Gala which sees Non-Stop running between the Friday Morning and Sunday afternoon. This years event, like many of the events on the railway this year, was based on the railways 40th anniversary celebrations and saw a number of guest engines visiting which had a certain relevance to railway over the years including the first engine to haul a train over the first part of the SVR to be re-opened (Bridgnorth to Hampton Loade) however other visitors were hired in aswell to completed the full line up of locos over the day

The Locomotives that ran during my visit were

Visitors;

|GWR 2251 'Collett Goods' Class 3205 (First engine to haul a train over the SVR in 1970, Now based at the South Devon Railway)
|GWR 3700 'City' Class 3717 'City of Truro' (from the National Railway Museum)
|GWR 4575 'Small Prairie' Class 5542 (From the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway)
|SR 'Battle of Britain' Class 34070 'Manston' (First visit to a railway since restoration, from the Swanage Railway)
|LMS 'Jubilee' 5XP Class 5690 'Leander' (Former Resident, now owned by Chris Beet)

Home Based;

|GWR 45xx Class 4566
|GWR 5101 Class 5164
|GWR 57xx Class 5764
|GWR 7800 'Manor' Class 7802 'Bradley Manor'
|GWR 7800 'Manor' Class 7812 'Erlestoke Manor'

The day was sunny through-out but the wind did pick up during the afternoon but it was a brilliant day. Highlights of the day for me where 3717 'City of Truro' making its first runs on the SVR in the New 1920s Livery and running with the SVR's GWR 'Toplight' Coaches. Double Headed Manors Between Bewdley and Kidderminster and back and a full GWR Freight train headed by 5542. I Did think the visit of 34070 'Manston' was great as this month is the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain when a very outnumbered and 'out gunned' RAF took on the might of the Nazi Luftwaffe to save the country from German Invasion.

Shots included in this video are

|5164 moving off from the water town at Kidderminster
|3717 running around and coupling up the GWR toplight coaches
|5542 running around the goods set at Bewdley and then departing for Arley
|4566 arriving into Arley on the Local set, then departing with ECS to Highley
|3717 arriving into Arley on the GWR Coaches heading to Bridgnorth
|34070 arriving into Arley with a train to Kidderminster
|5542 speeding through foley park with a Kidderminster bound goods
|34070 steaming towards Bewdley at foley park
|7812 + 7802 storming towards Kidderminster on one of the many Manor double headers during the day
|5690 passing 5764 whilst arriving into Bewdley
|5764 departs Bewdley with the Local to Arley
|7802 + 7812 arriving into Bewdley
|34070 departs from Highley with a train from Bridgnorth
|3717 creeps into Highley, filmed from Engine House picnic area
|3205 shunts ECS from Highley Loop into the station platform

I would like to thank the SVR for putting on a fantastic gala this year, very intense timetable and lots to see and do no matter where on the line you were. Count me in for next years!
