Buy some of my crazy puzzle designs: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/puzzles

This custom puzzle is based on a type A 3x3 DIY kit. Only the centers, four edges, the core and two caps of the original 3x3 are reused, all the other parts are parts that I designed in 3D on the computer. And even the standard parts have to be heavily modded.

These 3D designs where then printed on a 3D printer and duplicated by TwistyPuzzles.com member Kickflip1993 by casting in resin from a silicone mold. He then selflessly gave me a copy of my own design. It turns nearly as well as the type a 3x3 it is based on.

The design is available at the twistypuzzles.com forum for free! http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12134 You can make one if you want and please drop me a line if you do. But if you want to make money by selling these, then please give back to me, the designer.

  • so basically this is two 3x3x2s glued at the flat side of the core and extended a bit at the visible centers? O_o

  • No, it's not, there's no way that would work. It is essentially a 3x3x5 with it's middle layer hidden.

  • I've started on a FF with NO "printed" parts.

ALL hand-modded. It should take a month, but oh well.

    I'm also working on a 2x3, and a 3x2 (different)

what sucks is, you printed the pieces, so no tutorials from you.

  • No need to get hostile.

What is wrong with 3D printing? A 3x3x4 can be made by hand but it takes a lot of skill

I do not have the skill needed to make a 3x3x4 by hand. While I might be able to learn, I rather spend my time learning a technique that will enable the construction of very complex puzzles that can most likely not be hand made.

    I don't know what a 2x3 or a 3x2 would be. That's only 2D?

It isn't true that I can't make tutorials. I could make tutorials on 3D design, molding/casting.

  • Please note that I believe being able to make a quality 3x3x4 by hand is a great skill.

  • How to solve it?

  • then I don't have skill then.

    or patience. (I gave up.)

I'll start again, and this time, just cast the parts. but I will make the masters by hand, at least.

sorry if I was "hostile" and offended you.

    TO CLARIFY:

    "2x3" is short for 2x2x3

    "3x2" is short for 3x3x2

    sorry for the confusion.

sidenote: I've finished both since that comment. :)

  • how do u assemble it?

  • thats kind of what i meant lol. =\ sorry. misunderstood :D

  • haha ok

  • Thank you for the compliment. While I do not have any masters, you can download the STL files for free from the link in the description and use them to have your own masters printed.

PS: Asking for masters in this way is generally frowned upon.
