In Dupont Circle, Washington DC, Jan 19 2009! Throwing shoes at a giant inflated effigy of GW Bush.

Good riddance to George W Bush's destructive Presidency. The damage will never be undone. Throwing shoes is a symbolic gesture toward someone who deserves disrespect. George W Bush has well earned our disdain.

This was a part of the Bush send-off, and the message here is that now that Bush is leaving, he should be held responsible for his actions. The Constitution must be restored and the United States must move beyond his legacy of terror.

For those of you who commented that actions like this prove Obama supporters are poor winners, it doesn't. January 2009 is as much about finally ending Bush's reign as bringing in a new President. We finally have the opportunity to heal this country now that Bush has left office. "We can choose hope over fear."

  • @loverboy

    1. But he didn't keep us safe on 9/11 did he? Not even after the "Bin Laden determined to strike in US" memo.

    2. I volunteer, I watch the news, I read the news, I know what's going on in my district, I protest, I do as much as I can to stay involved and change my "own backyard." But D.C. is where the real change happens. It's where the decision of spending billions of dollars happens. If you want proof, just look at the change Obama has already brought to Washington.

  • It won't solve the things he's done, but this is the same idea as a protest. You could say an anti-war protest doesn't get back the lives of the people that already died, but it might stop the war before more die. This was just an expression of our anger at Bush. But I won't get all mad at you because I can kind of understand where you're coming from. :P

  • loverboy8991: you have flouride poisoning in your body.

  • this is why I don't get into political arguments, I absolutely suck at them. Hard. Yeah, I whole heartedly agree w/ your statement. W' was a bitch of a president. Anyone w/ half a damn brain and some decent political knowledge can do a hell of a lot better. It's just that there's no point in mocking GWB by throwing shoes and rocks and crap at a balloon. Beating on the balloon Bush isn't gonna fix his fuckups. We have a new president now. We can only hope he delivers on his word. Obama's got work

  • i forgot, the no fly list.

  • andre350, yes, thanks to him we have two towers lost, 3000 people killed, war which he lied us into, depleted uranium in iraq, thousands of people killed, crushed U.S. economy, crushed civil liberties, torture, murder mayhem and who knows what else, bohemien grove, molech the owl, billion dollar debt, he's led this country straight & true. not like before when we had an economy and a name around the world.

  • i didn't agree w/ alot of GW's policies, but mocking him? damn. I bet bush ran the nation better than alot of those people.
