Arifa Farhat (Rumpa) is a popular singer of Toronto. Recently her first solo album "Ratrir Kinaray Boshey" produced and recorded at LOY RECORDS http://www.loyrecords.blogspot.com Toronto, Canada has been released under the banner of "LASER VISION" Dhaka. "Ratrir Kinaray Boshey" includes ten songs composed by a renowned music director Ashiquzzaman Tulu. Ashiquzzaman Tulu, Nurul Islam, Anuroop Aich, Razu Rafique and Rifat Nigar Shapla have penned the lyrics. Her album has already been televised several times by quite a few national television channels of Bangladesh.
A master degree holder from Dhaka University, Arifa's love for music started early. Her mother Shamsun Nahar Shuja and her eldest sister Milia Islam Sabed -- a well known adhunik singer -- initially inspired her to sing at the age of five, eventually she started taking her music lessons from her mother. She also received lessons in classical music under Ustad Akhter Sadmani for several years. Arifa's first recognition came with Notun Kuri, a popular children's competition under the auspices of Bangladesh Television, where she won the first place in the adhunik songs category and second place in both Rabindra Sangeet and chorus.
Arifa has been living in Toronto, Canada for the last 6 years.Her husband Farhat Nayeem Khan and many well wishers have been encouraging her to continue in her pursuit. She has one son and one daughter. Arifa is now serving as a teacher at Alam-Piya School of Music, Toronto.
