To me its looks like, Werner and Walter did a few very big doubies .... .... befor filming. Why ? ..just listen to them

Great documentary. They jump 50m further now than in Steiner's time but they use better material, such as carbon fibers for the skis and the ski-jumps are much better calculated and constructed. So Herzog could be right that Steiner is still the greatest ski jumper of all times.

It seems to me that Herzog's documentaries stood better test of time than his fiction movies.
Steiner got disqualified because his jumps became inhuman - how true for human race!

I personally feel that his greatest films are Aguirre, Fitzcarraldo and Strozyek.

Agreed. The opening sequence of Aguirre is one of the world's high points of pure cinema.

Very impressive, I've recorded this movie years ago, when passed in the late night on 3rd channel of RAI (italian tv).
For the popol wuh lovers, the soundtrack has been recorded only for this movie and not on lp's, so stop to dig and searching, it drives you crazy, me too!
