I dry green algae into a "green brownie," then extract the oil with a screw press. This shows the press screw turning with the press head and barrel removed. The noise is from the bioreactor pump. The press is almost completely silent. The 1/10th acre bioreactor is capable of at lease 10 gallons of oil per day.

Why not just boil the oil off and in the process crack it into gas or something.. That's not much different than how they process crude oil which is just a gunky..

@dcbird I can't answer that specific question (this isn't my video) but Scenedesmus is much better than Chlorella from what I've heard. I also hear Botryococcus (bo-tri-cau-cus) is very good for lipid content.

How much oil do you get from 1 kg algal sludge? Did you centrifuge algae? We grow chlorella but it only runs about 20% oil.
