Mike is still my favorite...but I don't think he towers above Liebman, Mintzer, Berg, Joe Henderson or Joe Farrell the way Bird and Trane towered above their contemporaries. Every body I just mentioned would admit that Trane's innovations made what they do possible.

I always loved the intro to Delta City Blues. Michael always played it different at each gig and each one was a treat. RIP Michael.
