Most people who own a PS3 also own a PS2. Making it very stupid to pay to do something you already can.

It sounds like it.. It seems to be a new emulator all PS3's will be able to use. Kind of makes sense if they were relying on certain hardware before and had copyright/contract issues. Its all very confusing but damn good news - lack of backwards compatibility is a major reason why many people haven't bought into PS3 yet.

Yeah, let's go get a PS3 now that it can play PS2 games. No reason to use a PS2 for that.
