In Toronto Song by http://www.stevepaulsimms.com
Take a walk on funky Bloor, you'll find an open door
Come see just what the night-time brings
We're gonna do some things
In Toronto

Some night-time shots by Fitzfx of Bloor Street West in The Annex area of Toronto - a favourite part of town. The full song can be heard on the Open City cd at http://www.stevepaulsimms.com. In trying to write a theme song for my city, I wanted to reflect the international flavour which is to me its outstanding characteristic. Hence the Latin/Caribbean feel, as opposed to traditional Canuck folk song textures. Jose Feliciano is said to have liked this record when he heard it. Spanish Harlem by Lieber and Stoller and Ben E. King would be another influence, also Caetano Veloso's Spanish-language records. The harmonies are by Linda Saslove and Annette Dillon, drums and percussion George Morellato, bass Rick Ramsay, mandolin by the late, lamented Jerry Gonnelly aka Jerry Donnelly, and guitars (steel- and nylon-string) by SPS.
