fish farming started out with the right idea but got lost in over density. greed always wins out over sustainable fish farming, doing more harm than good not only to the wild stocks but also to the quality of the fish. proposed density limits r in order to control sea lice and diseases. could b a solution when coupled with enviromental responsibilty. is that possible?
to see pros and cons on both sides. Just keep that in mind before listening to people who have no real education in this issue and are just trying to be controversial. You did a great job and I'm sure you have had much success in the past year. Good luck!
Some of these farmed fish can escape every now and then and these fish will compete with the wild populations for food and habitat while possibly even breeding with the wild population and causing health issues for future populations. I believe there are better options for sustainable a.c. practices like recirculating a.c. systems where it uses less water, there is very little waste, and you have more control over disease factors. There is plenty of information on this issue and it is possible
I think you did a really nice job on the video and I'm really happy that you are so concerned with this issue. I have a degree in aquaculture and am currently working towards a degree in environmental studies. The issue here in "sustainable aquaculture practices". Offshore ranching has been proven to put pressures on wild species due to the influx of excess nutrients and nitrogenous wastes that fish food and feces contain, not to mention disease issues from these densely populated pens.
agreed! this video is the only way we will be able to keep or fish population up from all this over fishing that is being done! fish farming was a good idea!
I AGREE with this video. There are other videos that says otherwise. Thats what I've been trying to tell all this time. But those "Fanatic Green" so called Enviromentalist now said the fish farm kills the wild fish as well. In the beginning they say OVER FISHING from ocean fish. When people try to farm the fish, now they say breeding kills the wild fishes. What kind of lock, stock & 2 "Bull Shiting Barrel" are they trying to do. NOBODY are allowed to eat fish anymore except themselves. Is it?
great presentation...thanks for share..this awarness..

Fish farming requires wild caught species for food as well, meaning a higher demand for some species of wild caught fish.
