Appalachian football video coordinator Jake Stroot won the prestigious 2008 SAVVY Award at the annual Collegiate Sports Video Association convention earlier this month in St. Louis, Mo.

Stroot's video earned first-place recognition over 24 entrants for the SAVVY award, which recognized the best in collegiate highlight and motivational videos. He beat out runners-up from Georgia Tech and LSU for the top prize.

Stroot is in ninth year as the Mountaineers' football video coordinator. He earned a bachelor's degree from ASU in 2004. He resides in Boone with his wife, Ashleigh, and son, Peyton.

  • They aren't going to win at chatanooga this year due to a 33-13 spanking at the hands of the richmond spiders. Another big factor was the 7...count'em...7 TURNOVERS they had.

  • Let me just say this right now....I'm from James Madison University, and we just played Appalachian State today for our home football game....we won the game at 35-32, but I want to congratulate ASU for having such a fine football program. You guys don't play around in football, and I could see it in the game.

    Great job ASU!
