why did you pull the engine? i'm thinking of stripping mine in winter for a decoke and valve lapping. may as well check the bores and bottom end bearings while i'm at it. are bearings and pistons easy to get hold of still?
Mate, taking the radiateor of is very easy get some kid riding past on his pushbike and pay him $20 he will do it, make sure you put the green stuff in the water
i've just got a 27 year old CX500B, well looked after and only 47000 miles, does'nt burn oil, pressure is good, compession is good. swingarm solid and camchain has been done by previous owner, only needs Tachometer cable changing, anybody know how to do it without removing the radiator? it's in a tricky place, driven off the front of the cam. by the way, great vid of the engine, the manuals are not as detailed as i'd like
good video, maybe i will buy one cx 500 , but it have one problem , the righ cylinder burn some oil and the sparkplug cant work very well , because the bike crash with a car, i hoping can be fix the problem
One of the best Honda engines ever!!.I'v owned a CX for 25 years and the only thing I'v replaced on the engine is the Camchain and tensioner.Starts first time and does not use any oil....after 25 YEARS!!!!.I think that speaks for itself. Thanks for posting.great to see.
I agree Steve.mmmm V4-CX1000.....GOO ! lol I WISH!! Especially turbo..that would seriously haul ass... I bet it'd make sportscar HP...not a problem.(120-200HP)
500cc is more than enough for touring.. This engine powered the early Silverwing. There was a 650cc version and a turbo version for a couple years... turbo model was fuel injected and produced about double the power.
thanks for sharing,most interesting
