Loren D. Estleman, who has written more than 50 books, including his series about detective Amos Walker, talks about writing about Detroit. He also talks about the decisions writers make about whether to write in first person or third, past tense or present tense. Estleman was part of a panel on hard-boiled and noir detective fiction at the 6th annual Kerrytown BookFest in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

  • I wish Loren would continue The Detroit Crime Series. King Of The Corner took place in the late 80's/early 90's and a lot has happened in the Motor City since then. Using the Dennis Archer era and/or the Kwame Kilpatrick era, I think there's enough material for at least two novels possibly three if he wants to journey into the Ken Cockrel or Dave Bing eras as well.

  • I'm guessing Estleman is with Rob Kantner here?

Because if so I wish I was there..those two are great.
