I love these vids, most of the comments are asking info on graded steel. Go on Wikipedia it is all on their. As far as I can see about the vid. Stop using ornamental blades to do tamashiguri. If anyone is interested in a real blade find an iaido school and practice then use your money to buy a real jap blade.

The dude cutting is a chopper, not a cutter...to make the most efficient use of a katana, you have to draw it through the target as you make contact, slicing it through...the blade is after all a 3' razor.
The angle that the mat was laid over showed it was just hacked at and not properly cut.
Properly used, this blade should go through 3 rolled mats easily.
