Folter mit Musik - Torture with Music

Torture with music - a standard interrogation procedure in Guantanamo and other secrect American prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan. Prisoners are being physically tortured and then subjected to deafening music and strobelight, for days, even weeks, to break them. Experts warn, that this form of psychological torture is as serious as physical torture.
There is even a list of favourite songs, being used by American interrogation specialists: Guantanamo Greatest Hits. But there are only a few musicians who speak out, that their music is being used for torture. The British human rights organisation REPRIEVE http://www.reprieve.org.uk is now starting its initiative "Torture Unplugged" to mobilize musicians and the public against torture with music.

Folter mit Musik - Eine Standard-Verhörmethode in Guantanamo und amerikanischen Geheimgefängnissen im Irak und in Afghanistan. Gefangene werden physisch gefoltert und anschließend zum Teil tagelang ohrenbetäubender Musik und Stroboskoplicht ausgesetzt. Ziel ist es, sie psychisch zu brechen. Experten warnen, dass diese Form der Folter zu schweren psychischen Schäden führen kann. Mittlerweile kursiert im Internet eine Liste mit Musiktiteln, die bei den Verhörspezialisten am beliebtesten sind: Guantanamo Greatest Hits. Doch nur wenige Musiker sind empört und sprechen sich dagegen aus, dass ihre Musik zur Folter benutzt wird.
Die englische Menschenrechtsorganisation REPRIEVE http://www.reprieve.org.uk will jetzt Musiker mobilisieren, um gegen Folter mit Musik zu protestieren.
