Both variants of your intro are good. I'm used to the old one, so it sounds more "right", I guess.

This last part of the level here was a pain in the butt. Kept dying the first time I played it. I was cringing internally as I saw you pick up all the armor and health before filling the car with the first gas canister.

Actually, this whole part felt like they were doing a play on Left 4 Dead 2's gas can sequences.
