  • Historicity of the Bible

Some cynics have claim that a 3000yr old text cant be true (its too old!) but many non religious documents are accepted without question like a copy of Platos writings dated 1400yrs after he lived or a biography of Alexander the Great written 200yrs after he lived. The very 1st line of Gen 1:1 has been proven scientifically rejecting what atheists claimed for centuries: that the universe was eternal and/or fine-tuned by abstract laws to be life-permitting.

  • contd Archaeologists from the Dept of Biblical Studies Haifa University say they've deciphered the earliest known Hebrew writing in existence, an inscription dating from the 10th century BCE ( King David's reign). The discovery is significant because it means the Bible will be several centuries older than current estimates suggest. The inscription was written in ink on a 15x16.5 cm trapezoid pottery. It is similar in its content to biblical scriptures (Isaiah 1:17, Psalms 72:3, Exodus 23:3

  • 00:24 - Saul was born in 5 CE and died in 67 CE...

  • @DiscoveringReligion And around 60AD (anno dominum) he journeyed to jeruselum. Anno Domini Nostri Iesu (Jesu) Christi ("In the Year of Our Lord Jesus Christ.) The Gregorian calendar is the most widely used calendar in the world today. If u want to deny 2000yrs of history b/c it doesnt fit with ur new age worldview - tough!

BTW, Prof. Graham Clark ANU "I know of no ancient history professor who has the slightest doubt as to the historicity of Jesus."

  • @Gericho49

Uh, exactly how did Paul convert in 60 AD and then die in 67 AD? Paul wrote for many years and extensively traveled around the ancient world before he was beheaded in Rome. Paul was in his 60s when he died. It is more likely the events surrounding the "road to Damascus" occurred around 33–36 AD. But look how you respond to your mistake. You blame me for trying to deny 2000 years of history because of my new age what? LOL! Yeah, nice try...

  • @DiscoveringReligion It seems your right about a 30+AD date for Sauls conversion althought it does seem to coincide with the actual crucificion. Doesnt seem to leave much time for the Church to take root before he began his mission to destroy it, does it? In Galatians 1:13, Paul adds more regarding his background: For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it."

  • @DiscoveringReligion What you have stated is true and without error, all one has to do is try and prove the Bible to be true, and they will find it is completely fabricated starting with the first verse.

  • @Gericho49

So you can prove Jesus was born of a virgin and rose from the dead through historical evidence now? I am afraid quite the contrary. Aside from the Bible there is no record of the Census of Quirinius, it was completely made up so Jesus could fit the prophecies found in the Torah. And as I am sure you know, not even the gospels are consistent as to the resurrection account. Try reading some textual criticisms. Jesus cannot be historically proven and much of the Bible was manipulated.

  • I have provided numerous scholarly citations from eminent academics who conclude that atheism is not based on science or reason and u say I dont respond to the arguments of people who disagree with me?? THis comes from a skeptic whose only response is insults, who has not even tried to challenge the citations I've quoted or attempted to offer any authorative response of his own.

"There are those who have seen sufficient evidence but suppress the truth in unrighteousness" Romans 1:20
