Nobody likes bailouts, but Lehman Brothers was a ticking time bomb. You address the symptom in need of immediate attention. You defuse the bomb, at whatever expense. THEN you regulate and break up the companies and do whatever you have to do to prevent this stuff from happening again. But to just categorically that you oppose bailouts for financial companies shows a complete naivete about what was going on. Nobody likes bailouts. Letting them get "too big to fail" was the problem. I love Nader and I voted for him, but I get the sense that he either doesn't understand the importance of the FINANCIAL bailout or doesn't want to have to break it to his supporters. Letting any financial institution become "too big to fail" in the first place is the original sin. But then letting these giants go under.. knowing the damage it would do.. When Paulson let Lehman fail.. just to prove his dissonant, die-hard, laissez-faire philosophy wrong! Monstrously, calamitously wrong!
