Listen it got on fire cause you must have put alot of wattage to the speaker. Example (The amplifier is 230 watt and the speaker is 60 watt) Your overpowering the speaker wattage
this just happened to me! i was on the highway, been driving for 2 hours when something started my trunk on fire. i had three enclosures with 4 subs, 3-12s and 1 ten. i also had a 1500 watt amp, 750 watt amp, a car battery, and a cap. it was all put in by a company named Kustom Kreations in Muskegon, Michigan.
Same thing happend to me 2 weeks ago. JBL Sub caught fire. I freaked out. Never in all my fricken years did I ever have that happen. We weren't even blasting it. WTF . How much was it for you to get fixed?
I had a 12" speaker with a bb in it, I didn't see that it had went through the dust cap because the dust cap didn't show signs of rips or holes, it started on fire lol.
if the cone that vibrates and make the bass sound is not properly fixed with the friction will couse a lot of heat then fire, this just happened to me a could of days ago.
