Beginning of the End? However what end? The British economy might have been in ruin, However the Empire changed its name to Commonwealth/Realm the Alliance NATO was formed. I dont see any end.

That was a nice touch, draping the British officer's body with the stars and stripes. I wish alliances showed such brotherhood nowadays.

I dissagree that WW2 was the most CATASTROPHIC war.
I can't remember when in 39-45..the brits lost 50k men in a day!

" Our's is not the reason why " what a load of Bulldust. It's a pity a few more people had not " reasoned why ". For the Millions on all sides who died, what was the outcome? continuation of more of the same. I remember my father saying to me, " If the Germans win, we will all be talking German". The Germans were told exactly the same rubbish, and " ARE THEY? ". " Our's is but to do and die", but not Winston, and the Royal Family safe in their bunkers.

I just finished watching all 9 parts of Darkest Hour. Truly brilliant. This film glorifies a people united against a formidable foe. There is no glorification of war, no haughtiness, just heroic people fighting for their lives. I am an American and am pretty well versed in the politics in America prior to 12/7/41. It was a horrible time for a world gripped by economic depression. Not sure why I'm rambling other than I guess I was disturbed by the rhetoric being thrown about on another page.

war is no fun but this is amazing i wish my country had a great army like this!!(mexico)
I'm extremely glad Halifax was mentioned in this. I am a true born and bred Haligonian and I am well aware of how important Halifax Harbour was for supplies during the war. I'm glad others could be reminded of this as well.
