  • This aspect of Meister Eckhart teaching: his style and language, would profit infinitely by reading the German original.

    There is no way of conveying how he not only used German but virtually re-invented it single handedly. Many of his concepts are untranslateable. Examples are "Bildung" and "Wirklichkeit" - dubiously translated as "education" and "reality", better "formation as image (of God)", "effectuality / actuality" - which are in use to this day.
