Though you may not date based on looks men and women are attracted to each other based on looks. You don't know that guy at the coffee shop (for example) but you walk up to him not because you think he might have good convo...no you walk up to him because he looks good So I can see where he is coming from when he saying that you need to have it together when looking for a partner. but I also feel your point because though that is a plus to look good it can only get you so far.
