Herbie Hancock—UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and Grammy Award-winning, international jazz icon—was featured on Capitol Hill Tuesday, June 19, 2012. As a Goodwill Ambassador, Hancock has been working to advance the ideals of The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which was created to "build peace in the minds of men." The Better World Campaign recognized Hancock for his dedication to harnessing the power of music to promote peace and intercultural dialogue. Representatives Fred Upton (R-MI) and John Conyers (D-MI) were honorary cohosts of the event. The event was cosponsored by L'Oréal USA and National Geographic.
