One of the most joyous films ever made. I think It took a non Brazilian director to be able to stand back from the harsh realities of life and see the beauty in the narrative.
I'll always go back to this film.....

Pois é, Alexandre... tem mais americano apreciando a magia de "Orfeu" do que brasileiro, o que mostra que damos pouco valor ao que é de nossa cultura. O diretor do filme, por exemplo, é um francês...

The best musical part in the film, IMHO, was a "batucada" that went "meu amor sera assim". Is there an extract on youtube with that bit?

This film endures. It won an academy award for best foreign film in 1960 and the highest awrad at Cannes in 1959. I absolutely love this movie.
