I have been using it for at least 4 years , it does wonders for chronic pain.

The key is to take it exactly as prescribed , do not take an extra, I take 30mg a day, they should make it more obvious that it works slow but it works for a long time , I too overdosed when I started ,thanks to my vigilant wife, I too would be dead

your very lucky you survived....my fiance and countless other also took it EXACTLY as prescribed and weren't so lucky....my fiance was actually in a hospital at the time of his death and there was no saving him

Methadone should only be given to those who are tolerant. And methadone actually last for 24 hours straight, that is why it is easier to die. It takes 2 hours to kick in on site and then keeps going throughout the next few hours.

every person is different.....i will stay in some people's system longer than others. for some it may be 24 hours - for others it could be 72 hours...hence the danger

The half life (the amount of time it take for HALF of the drug to be eliminated) of Methadone in a person's body is anywhere between 24-in excess of 80 hours (which means the minimum amount of time the drug is still active in the body is 48 hours).

If someone is taking other drugs or they are a fast/slow metabolizer that might make the difference of what is "felt" by the user. The misconception that it only stays in your system for 24 hours is what is killing people. The drug is ACTIVE long after the user stops feeling it's effects

i think they should prescribe narcan to anyone with a methadone prescritpion....

Doesn't anyone have enough sense to use narcan?! It reverses the effects of methadone! If a "doctor" doesn't educate himself about methadone, he has no right to prescribe it. There is no excuse for a person dying while hospitalized because of a methadone overdose! The doctor, not the drug is the culprit!

A year ago I was started on vicadin for a cartilage wasting disease then I switched to percocet then oxycontin and percocet. I ended up abusing the oxycontin because my pain was so severe and eventually turned to heroin. After five months on heroin I was sick of my addiction so I got into a methadone clinic. I am dual disorder with severe anxiety and I take blood pressure medication and a very high dose of klonopin. Im now 11 days off methadone and I think god every day that im still here.

I was at about 100mg and took some Xanax a bottle of wine. Had done this a million times with no ill affect but this time was different. Fell asleep and when I awoke I couldn't see. Made it to an emergency room and found out that I had a stroke. Methadone was a ball n chain for me. A few years clean in a 12 step program helped me when I kicked Methadone. I had been on it for 6 years maxing out at 150mg. It's hard to find help as detox for MD tougher then heroin. Faith in God got me thru. FAITH!

yea man Im recovering addict 15yrs was in clinic for around 6yrs, now on subutex for around 6mths, and I still have withdrawel symptoms on top of the benzos i take, the subutex helps a little but after all ive done to my body, its gonna take awhile to feel better, thats if I EVER feel better

I cried in agony as I watched this video. My brother died of a deadly cocktail of 1xanax and 1 methadone tablet on May 17, 2005. We live with the pain of no longer being able to see his face or hear his voice. He was made an addict at the hands of physicians. Don't be next in line. Rest in peace baby brother..I love you.

The most evil drug on planet earth, and yet doctors are writing it to get away from OXY? STUPID! Like writing cyanide to get away from cholesterol!

God Bless the victims of this insanity. Wise up America....Happiness will NEVER be found in a man made artificial substance. NEVER!!!!! And if it's pain you seek refuge from there are safer alternatives. If you allow the hospitals and doctors control, they will kill you. Wise up, use self control, be in charge of your own bodies and minds. Breaks my heart to see these beautiful people gone and so terribly sad for those left behind.
