Artie's first recording session (from the same session that spawned "Frenesi") after walking off the stand and "fleeing" to Mexico less than 4 months earler - if you desire fame, Artie would be the first to say, "Be damn careful what you wish for, pal!" ;)

Pauline Byrne takes over for Helen Forrest, who had, by this time, joined Benny Goodman. And then there's the strings, a move any big band with plenty of snuts tried to copycat - with utter futility. LOL!

Nice dark bounce to this one. :)

  • Benny and Artie had great technique. They both had great musical instincts. They both had great bands. But perhaps,Artie had a bit more soul in his playing? Comments... Hey,thanks for the post. This brings back memories of my Dad,whose been gone now for 35 years. He loved Benny and Artie equally.

  • Have been a devout fan of Artie since i was 13 years old back in 1973!
