What is Wushu
Wushu means "Chinese martial arts". Wushu is also called Goushu or Kungfu and westermers are more familiar with the tram Kungfu. Wushu is a wonderful martial arts with dating back thousands of years in China, and has been recognized as an ancient Chinese art for self discipline of body and mind. Wushu was displayed in those moives: "Shaolin temple, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Fearless etc by Jet Li, and Jackie Chan.
Wushu in Chinese 武 has two parts. The first part 止 which means stop and second part 戈 means weapon. When put together the term symbolizes the idea of using military power to subdue violent disorder. By promoting peace, Chinese martial arts serve and protect while avoiding conflict.
Wushu involves training and competing. Wushu has many elements of acrobatics and gymnastics. Wushu is performed the quality and complexity of each movement is emphasized. The important elements include flexibility, speed, coordination, presentation and precision.

In 1991, Wushu was inducted as an official event in the Asian Games. Many countries around the world participate in Wushu competitions. Wushu was introduced into the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.

There are numerous benefits to practicing Wushu. Practitioners both young and old can experiance physical, emotional. mental, social and spiritual benefits of the lifeling art.
Wushu has a lot of benefits. People who practice Wushu get stronger physically, mentally and emotionally. Long term practitioners of Wushu also get stronger socially and spiritually because Wushu is a lifelong art.
When people age naturally they lose strength and flexibility but Wushu practitioners stay strong and flexible into their nineties.
