Baldwin loco steaming up in Yreka

Just happened to see this on our way back from Medford and it was just a little pleasant surprise, so we stopped long enough to look around and take a few pictures and this short clip. Not exciting, but it again was just one of those pleasant little surprises that you sometimes come upon when road tripping. Hopefully an actual ride will be on the to do list next year...

@ColumbiaAndHoodRiver This was actually shot in Yreka California. Sadly, from what I understand they are no longer running the line. I guess what kept it open was actually running freight, and the contracts were cancelled and it put the whole thing on hold. I hope they will open up again someday. Never did get there to take a ride before it closed.

Thanks! We were actually there on Sept. 21st. I posted this in the evening after we got home. Hope to take a ride next summer.

Really!? I am a volunteer on the Yreka Western and I volunteer on Sundays. Did I get the chance to talk to you?

Yeah, but we were only there for about 10 minutes tops, and it was before the ticket station opened. We debated on hanging around and taking the train, but between waiting for an hour for departure and the length of the trip, it would have put us back home in Sacramento later than we would have liked after a long weekend of kart racing. We go up to Dunsmuir every year, so we'll incorporate an excursion next summer for sure!
