The first of a series of health-related educational shorts produced by the Disney studios and the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs for showing in Latin America. It was also the only one to use established Disney characters (the Seven Dwarves).

In this propaganda short, the viewers are taught about how the mosquito can spread malaria. A young mosquito flies into a house and consumes the blood of an infected human. She then consumes the blood of a healthy human, transmitting the disease into him. It turns out that this is actually a film within a film and the Seven Dwarves are watching it. They volunteer to get rid of the mosquito by destroying her breeding grounds. Written by Coolguy imdb

  • OK lemme see if I've got this... If we permanently drain all natural bodies of water, or at least pump them full of oil and poison, destroy all indigenous vegetation, spray more poison throughout every corner of your home and environment, and bury all of your garbage in a landfill, we will somehow PREVENT the land we live on from turning into a barren, lifeless wasteland? Hmm...

  • "Atta boy, Dopey, kill her good and dead..."

Snow White would've been a much different movie with that line...

  • you have some great stuff here

  • Wouldn't be a problem if DDT was legal again.

  • Okay we killed the "wigglers" but how do we get the oil from the water and um, what will we drink without the water?

  • speechless

  • Did he just say spray oil in water? The bbc would love these video!

  • @WyczesanyBober So we can spray the oil on their breeding grounds. Good thinking.

  • Gee when they said Disney did what he had to in order to make back the money sucked up by the production of Fantasia during the war they weren't kidding. A lot of the stuff he made for the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs was never meant to be seen by North American eyes. This was all for the Latin countries, like Panama, where Malaria was a huge problem.

  • Too many mosquitos, not enough oil. WE MUST INVADE MIDDLEAST! ]:D

  • ... NOT THE MOSQUITO'S FAULT!!! IT'S THE PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM THAT IS THE TRUE CAUSE OF MALARIA!!!!

  • BP was just busy ending malaria!
