Ironically Saddam was telling the truth, he didn't have WMDs and hated bin Laden. He was never responsible for the killing of US civilians anywhere. He was anti-extremist. You know which country benefited most from our war in Iraq? Iran. They were bitter enemies. Now Iran will control Iraq by proxy. Funny how America fucks itself over time and time again.

@givemeabudlighthomes you put brutal dictator in quotes. my friend, he WAS a brutal dictator. watch the video of the 1979 coup. read about the repression and abuse of womens and human rights. find out what he did to the kurds. i agree the war was sold on misinformation, and attempts were made to dupe the american public, but don't pretend saddam was anything other than a theocratic fascist murderer. the iraqi people DID welcome the US troops - if only at first. take a guess at why.

@AmericaTops He didn't kill millions... no where near that, and many of them were Kurds, a separate ethnic group who opposed his regime and supported Iran during the Iran-Iraq war, hardly his "own people". Not saying he didn't run a brutal regime, but it held the country together

Up to 500,000 Iraqi children starved during the oil sanctions. Bin Laden even cited the sanctions as one of the motivations for the 9/11 attacks; "the greatest mass slaughter of children mankind has ever known"
