A video of my first attempt at a saltwater reef tank. 14 months in and I have had a blast!

99% of my success came from information found on http://www.reefland.com/forum/. I can't thank those guys enough for helping me limit my mistakes as a beginner.

Just checked and the camera I use is a Sony Handycam HDR-XR200.

Thanks for the kind words. The tank looks much different since this vid. I'm going to try to get a new vid put up but I have to take care if a phosphate issue first.

I think 75 gallons is the perfect size for a novice marine aquarium hobbyist. It's not so big that it will break the bank, it's big enough to have a handful of fish and there's a good amount of water volume to work with.

  • @jaguars4263 sorry it took so long for a reply. The only supplements I use are Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium. Keeping those three in range and balanced with each other will help maintain good water quality and puts Ph in the right range. I can't remember what camera I have so I'll have to get back to you on that.

  • Thanks! it's always going to ba a work in progress but thats why this hobby is so addicting.

  • Thanks Twisted! You've been a huge help.

  • Nice Tank. I'm going to start a 75g saltwater reef also. Decision made! I've run a succesful freshwater with cichlids for a year and love it. But I want bigger and better so was contemplating large 75g afr cichlid tank. I think saltwater is the way to go.

  • very nice tank!! im a beginner too what kinds of supplements are you using? And what kind of camera is that? damn it has a nice picture to it!!

  • Nice tank, and kewl vid!

  • James! Love the vid! Your tank has come a long way! Everything looks real healthy and happy. Great job!!!
