i agree with mac, i hate it when people stand there like manequins while you beat on them. that's unrealistic.
i practice to control spacing, such that the attacker has to extend himslef to reach me. i think if you let someone with a knife get close to you, you are setting yourself up for bad things. also, in my opinion, your defense should be accompanied by a disruptive blow to the eyes/face, neck/throat/clavicle. i do believe that if you smash their trachea, they'll forget all about you.

@toshindodisciple The manequin practice have it advantages. It's a nice thing to start with when you first start practicing a grip. But to not move beyond it once you have gotten a hang of the technique is lunacy.

@BootyFister Totally agree! Lurking like he's about to stab Mac Young. I thought he was going to do that to demonstrate the surprise/randomness of knife attackers. That strange skin coloured attire he is donning just adds to the creepiness.

It's completely right what he tells about incorrect attacks. You ALWAYS see incorrect attacks when martial artists demonstrate how to defend against weapons. And the people only recognize the beautiful defending techniques. Then the masters tell you: "it's just a demonstration, you cannot fight furiously in a demonstration". So, I think that they shouldn't demonstrate it at all when they know it's nonsense what they show off.
