How to build a computer in under 8 minutes.

A video I made of a computer build from early 2009

It cost around £700 for the components including the monitor but excluding the OS. I used the Windows 7 release candidate. Does everything an average user* would need a PC to do with relative ease; rips a DVD in less than 1/2 hr, handles video footage from my camcorder in full HD (1920x1280) @ 60fps. It rendered this video to 1280x720 in less than 1 hour and will handle games easily at the highest settings. I didn't test it with Crysis, only with games I already had; Mass Effect.

*Editing is very time consuming so a lot of the fiddly bits i.e CABLE MANAGEMENT was taken care of afterwards and was not edited in to the actual video*

Feel free to ask questions about components or where to buy them. Comment and rate if you like it.

Enjoy,

Thanks.

  • um were did u get your parts from

  • @lilsonic11 Various online retailers in the UK. overclockers.co.uk, ebuyer, scan.co.uk, novatech.co.uk. Thanks.

  • what if i were to buy a factory computer from a store, newer model, and then upgraded certain parts? because im looking for a computer for gaming but only certain games like rpgs. I see alot of people who build their own rigs for gaming but its usually over 1000 bucks. I dont necessarily need alot of power or flash i just want it to be able to play without any problems? any suggestions for pre built computers or good computers to upgrade?

  • @Mackfuu222 That would be an expensive way to do it. You'd be better off building one from scratch or buying a barebones bundle and then adding what you need to that.

  • hey what LCD is that? and what program did you use to make this video?

  • @deanbax9 LCD is a BenQ - can't remember which model - sorry. It's 22" 1920x1080 res, HDMI. I used Adobe Premier Pro to make the video :)

  • @David2377 CPU manufacturer TIM is generally inferior. I used hi-density silver thermal compound by Arctic Silver.
